About

Who keeps the lights on, and why the walls are painted.

chordcult is a one-room studio that makes records, paintings and software, and doesn’t see much difference between them.

The background of this site is a photograph of a real painting. It hangs behind the mixing desk, and most of the music here was made facing it. When the light changes in the room, the painting changes. We wanted the site to feel like that: a surface you can stand in front of, not a feed you scroll past.

What you’ll find

  • Music: albums and loose recordings, streamed from this server with no trackers. The player keeps going as you browse.
  • Art: paintings and studies, photographed in daylight.
  • Stories: long reads, field notes and the occasional fiction.
  • Tools & plugins: small instruments we built for ourselves, released for anyone who wants them.
